This year was significantly different than years past. We always get together with my cousins and such on Easter, and my Grandma gives each family an Easter Lilly, honeycomb, flat bread, and her testimony in writing. Although I missed my family a ton on this special day, it was quite the experience to be alone. All the roomies had gone home for the weekend, so I had the run of the place. Saturday I went running in Logan Canyon but on my way back I stopped at first dam to just think. I sat on a bench and turned off my ipod to listen to the birds and the sound of the water. My mind wandered to many different subjects but the majority of my thoughts were turned to thinking about this beautiful earth and my precious Savior. I am so grateful for Him and His sacrifice. He knows me. He is happy when I choose to serve others and when I am living the way I should be. That makes me happy. He knows I mess up, and He knows I can do better. He loves me no matter what I do and provides me with opportunities to become happier and stronger.
Church today was exceptional. I almost started crying when we sang "I know my Redeemer Lives". The spirit was so strong.
We can have hope in this difficult life because He has risen. He defeated death so we can too. We have the wonderful, beautiful opportunity to be exalted because of His choices. I know that we can overcome our trials because He has already. He will help us each step of the way. And then when we've done all we need to do, we will see his eyes shining with joy and feel his hands as we kneel at his feet. We will hear him say "You did it." I cannot wait for that day.
My dear friend and Relief Society president gave the lesson today, and she shared this song. It's based off of Elder McConkie's talk shortly before he passed away in the April 1985 General Conference. Here's the last part of his talk.
"And now as pertaining to this perfect Atonement, I testify that it took place at Gethsemane and at Golgotha. And as pertaining to Jesus Christ, I testify that he is the Son of the Living God who was crucified for the sins of the world. He is our Lord, our God, and our King. This I know of myself independent of any other person. I am one of his Witnesses. And in the coming day I will feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God's almighty Son and he is our Savior and Redeemer and that Salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way. God grant that all of us will walk in the light, as God our Father is in the light so that according to his promises the blood of Jesus Christ his son will cleanse us from all sin. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Amen."
In a Coming Day
Kory Kunz
in a coming day i will close my weary eyes
in a coming day i will leave this mortal life
in a coming day i will feel the prints in his hands
in a coming day i will see the son of man
but when that day is here and eternity seems very clear
i shall not know then any better than i know now
that he is God's almight son my redeemer the atoning one
that he lives and he shall stand one day upon this land
and i shall not know than any better than i know now in a coming day
in a coming day i will wet his feet with my tears
in a coming day in his arms he'll hold me near
in a coming day i will look into his eyes
in a coming day i will live with him on high
but when that day is here and eternity seems very clear
I shall not know then any better than i know now
that he is God's almight son my redeemer the atoning one
that he lives and he shall stand one day upon this land
and i shall not know than any better than i know now in a coming day
What a beautiful day this will be |
